Re: Lots of missing contributions

Its true that since about February there is a big problem with credit not posting. In 2008 at least 8 out of 10 purchases would provide credit, and in a pretty timely manner. The last few months however, I would be lucky if 1 of 10 purchases would be given credit. I am very dissapointed in what is happening to this service. I made it a point to spend wisely so I could get money for my son's college but I'm not going to bother anymore unless UPromise sticks to their promise.

Re: Lots of missing contributions

This does not bode well... I just joined. I've made 2 purchases through links on the Upromise site. Nothing has shown up in my account. How long does it usually take? What percentage of transactions get messed up? I don't think it will be worth it for me to make multiple phone calls or send emails or faxes every time I want to save a couple of bucks!

Hi mackpeterson, welcome & good luck with Upromise. I don't know of any contributions that show up immediately in your account. It depends on the merchant, but most contributions can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to post. On average, the wait is usually somewhere between 10 & 30 days, but the contribution timetable ( http://www.upromise.com/nspage?su=8201 ) gives more detailed information on when to expect to see them post to your account.

I have had to track down some missing contributions, but in all fairness I'd have to say most of my contributions have shown up automatically within the expected time frame.

I have found that most of my missing contributions were from purchases made online with coupon codes. Since I still don't know whether that is the fault of Upromise or the merchants, I am less likely to shop through Upromise if I intend to use a coupon code. However, there are other savings programs through Upromise that I have had good results with & I still participate in whenever I can. For example, the dining program & the grocery & eCoupons are parts of the Upromise program that work well for me.

I don't know how long it takes to get the Upromise credit card, but I imagine it takes about the same amount of time as any other credit card. Once it comes in, though, you should really see some nice results with your savings. Just be sure to pay your balance off every month to avoid paying interest, which is the secret to making the card work for you.

You might want to read up on the FAQ's page & the "How It Works" page so you can familiarize yourself with Upromise & get the most out of it. Once you get used to it, it shouldn't take huge amounts of time or effort to save. Still, I recommend keeping track of your purchases & receipts, just in case you do have to fill out a missing inquiry form.

Re: Lots of missing contributions

Thanks for your reply and for that timetable link. I guess I'll just try to just make a quick note of every purchase that should show up in my account. It seems more likely to me that contributions not showing up would most often be the fault of the retailer. There timely reporting and payment to Upromise is a much lower priority for them than Upromise's providing payments to their customers.

Re: Lots of missing contributions

So far so good with me, after actually learning how to use Uprom.  I have seen the extra gas stuff post from last month and even some grocery and pharmacy purchases that I wasn't expecting.  Party on!  One exception, working it out with Quicken directly......see what happens later today.
