I'm curious. I am getting Upromise dollars for things that I buy via the Upromise website when I click through directly to the merchant online, but if I use a registered credit card at the merchangt (Home Depot for example) I never get any Upromise dollars. Am I missing something? If I go to Exxon and buy gas, I get my Upromise dollars...
I'm confused.
Thanks for any help.
Jon

Hi Jon,
You're right that, in order to get contributions from Home Depot, you do have to shop through Upromise online. The only way to get around that is to purchase a Home Depot gift card online going through the Upromise website, which you can then spend in the store. As far as I know, not every merchant pays contributions on their gift cards, but Home Depot does as long as you buy them online through their link on Upromise.
Yes, Exxon/Mobile does pay contributions if you pay with a registered credit card, but remember that you have to purchase at least 20 gallons of gas per month to qualify for & receive your contributions.
Every merchant has different rules & timetables, so you might want to check out the help section, as well as the "How It Works" & the contribution timetables pages for more information.
I hope you find this helpful. ![]()

Thanks Mrs - I was trying to figure some of that out via the website, but it took awhile for it to sink in. Now I think I get it so thanks. Is Exxon/Mobil the only company that recognizes and links directly to Upromise through a registered credit card out of curiosity (excluding the eCoupons)?
Thanks again.
Jon

Hi Jon, Jeff from Upromise here. I'm adding on to mrsbandme's post. You also must use a registered credit or debit card when you dine out at a participating restaurant in order to get college savings. Here's more information on our dining program in case you haven't seen it:
And here's a list of other merchants where you can shop in store and get college savings as long as you use a registered credit or debit card...

I actually just picked up a Home Depot gift card online because I saw that they have a miter saw on sale that I'd like to get this Black Friday... might as well get any contributions I can get and shipping for the gift card is free. Should be here within a week, too.

I'm glad you found my post helpful, Jon
. It looks like Jeff's already answered the rest of your questions.
Thanks for posting the retail stores link, Jeff. When I looked for it before, I couldn't find it. It seems like there are more stores listed here than before, or am I mistaken? I wonder if I should be checking this list more often for new stores?
