When one applies for the Upromise credit card there is this message and big colorful letters:
"10% extra college savings on eligible purchases of grocery and drugstore items" Sounds good! I've looked at the tiny list of "eligible" grocery store items. None of them offer "10% extra college savings." Most are 1%. What exactly is meant by this "10% extra college savings on eligible purchases of grocery and drugstore items?" Did the web designers add an extra zero accidently? Or is there in fact an item that I might be able to buy at some store during a particular phase of the moon that I might earn 10% credit for? perhaps a five cent number 2 pencil? Limit one per household per year?

Let's say an eligible grocery product costs $1.00 and normally contributes 1%. You swipe your loyalty card and you use your UPromise credit card. First you'll get your 1% ($0.01) to post to your account. After your credit card statement comes in, you'll get your 1% on your purchases for that billing cycle ($0.01 for the specific item plus whatever else you purchased). After that, you'll get your 10% for using your UPromise credit card on an eligible item ($0.10).
So, you should see a total of $0.12 deposited into your account over three separate events. Or something along those lines. ![]()
