romance contest

As everyone is different, no one gift would suit everyone. I have shopped at things remembered. You can buy something and personalize it. I like the idea of the watch and relating it to being together throughout time. But the most romantic gifts sometimes seem unromantic to others. I am a musician. "Musicians Friend" has gear for recording. Perhaps I have always wanted to record my own songs. A piece of equipment from there would make me feel loved and listened to. Yes, it may not seem romantic. True love often doesn't. But knowing the one who loved me listens to my dreams shows me more love than anything. There are plenty of ideas to go shopping for.  If you buy something that shows that you listen it shows you care.  Here is something at "Acacia" http://acaciacatalog.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_51494

It is an iron angel bird feeder. You may think it is not romantic. However, if your loved one likes angels and enjoys nature, this would be wonderful. It shows you listen and have taken interest. You could attach a note that says something about it being natural to be in love with eachother, and how you feel like love birds. you just belong.

Of course no gift has to be extremely expensive. Somtimes we are all strapped for cash. Buying a gift that costs less can mean as much. "Borders" offers books, cds, and dvds. Perhaps you have a special song. You can buy the person a cd that contains the song and write a note saying how you always think of them when you hear it and hope they think of you as well. Even a book they have been longing for is nice. Of course chocolates and flowers are good standbys. At "Just because" you can even get chocolate roses. There are many great things.

A word of warning though. Do not buy self help books or weight loss items. Even when intentions are good, it usually comes across the wrong way. Your girlfriend may be talking about losing weight. If you buy her a weightloss product she will probably think she really is too big for you. And I don't know any women who doesn't like to feel beautiful. I guess thats where lingerie comes in. If you do it right it can make her feel like you want to see her in it, because she is sexy and beautiful. "Fashion Bug" has some selections. They carry regular and plus size. http://www.fashionbug.com/pagebuilder/product_thumbnail_image?cgid1=756&nav=Intimateplus&sub_cat=SEXY

So those are my ideas. When you are at a loss, communication is best. Sometimes asking what a person wants is actually good. I did not like chocolate for years so it wasn't a good gift for me. A gift idea can be dependent on where you are in a relationship. When you don't know someone well the chocolate and flowers seem the best way to go. Later you get to know their hopes, and dreams. If you are creative, you can figure out what will make them feel loved, even if it is a vaccuum cleaner:smileyhappy: I have stories, and yes, even a vaccuum cleaner has made for a wonderful Valentines day.
