Shopping is online only?

I am new to upromise.com but I notice everything says shopping online.  Is this the only way you can earn besides grocery stores restaurants and gas?  I shop some online but mostly I go to store and i ws noticing on the list of participating retailers that some say .com (ie. walmart.com jcpenny.com) but some do not have the .com (ie. walgreens).  Do the ones that do not have the .com mean I can shop actually in the store rather than online and stil earn?

Re: Shopping is online only?

The answer is mainly yes - online shopping is the main way of earning the money.  The exception is if you apply for the Bank of America credit card through UPromise.  You earn a percentage back wherever you use it regardless if it's online or not.  Each merchant has details on their particular link on the Online Shopping page.  In some cases, you can buy online, but then pick up at the store.  Hope this helps.

Re: Shopping is online only?

Hi, Rebecca from Upromise here. I wanted to add one thought.

Another great way to save with Upromise and shop locally is to buy giftcards online, then use them in stores. Go to upromise.com/giftcards to see all the stores that offer college savings on gift card purchases - not all stores do. So,. for example, every few months I buy $100 homedepot gift card online through Upromise, then I use it locally. You can do the same thing with Kohls, Sears and tons of other stores. It really adds up.

Hope that helps.

I was actually just about to buy another Home Depot gift card (my third one through UP) and was happy to see that they're offering 4% (instead of 2%) for this week!

If I use my Home Depot CC, which is not registered with UPromise, to buy a gift card online, do I still get the UPromise savings?

As long as you click through the UPromise website to get there or have turbosaver installed.

And while you're at it, why not register your HD CC anyway?  Doesn't cost anything.

My Home Depot CC is a store card, there isn't a Visa or Master logo on it.

My mistake, I thought their store cards were credit cards also.
