Women's Fashion: Affordable Luxuries at Target

by on 07-25-2008 03:51 AM

On Monday, we talked about the high-end designers that are slowly beginning to make their way into mass retailers such as JC Penney's and Kohl's.  But there is one mass retailer that really started it all: Target.

Isaac Mizrahi began the trend when he partnered up with Target years ago; the results have been an amazing collection of clean and simple lines, designed for the women who love to look good at a great price.  While Mizrahi does follow trends, he also sets them all on his own.

His Bollywood Dress in White and Gold is the perfect summer party dress. Easily worn to graduations, showers, and seaside dinners out, the cut is elegant and classic.  For $44.99, you'll get more than one season out of this piece as it can be worn with a shrug this fall and early next spring.  And yes, you can wear white after Labor Day.

If you're nothing but legs and it's not a windy day, you can also invest a little cash and grab his Trapeze Dress in Lipstick; seriously cute for those that have the body type to pull it off.

Baby on Board?  The grab Liz Lange.  It's only been in the last 3 or 4 years that maternity clothes have truly gotten cute; so much so that many of this summers hottest styles seemed to be taken right from maternity boutiques.  Prance in timeless style to any formal event in this Baby Doll Jersey Dress.

Mossimo is truly one of my favorite, stand-the-test-of-time designers out there.  When I was in college, I worked at a mall boutique; at the time, it was the only place to get Mossimo.  And then he transcended on Target and they haven't looked back since.  West Coast inspired, the Mossimo line covers everything from t-shirts to handbags and shoes. Men, women, juniors and kids can enjoy his trendy, energetic styles.

And finally, let's talk about accessories, shall we?  Justin Giunta for Subversive and Joy Grayson both keep Target shoppers looking great. Subversive is only at the mass retailer for a limited time, but as with many other designers that have joined the store, many are hoping that he'll be extended a more permanent place. I adore the Shell Ring Bracelet as well as the Butterfly Lucite Hinge Cuff Bracelet.

Actually, let's be honest; I love anything lucite.  Justin's design stance is simple - to bring new and old together, which he does beautifully.  Oh, and the Butterfly bracelet? Only $7.49 right now so grab it if you love it!
