Perfect Fitting Women's Winter Coats

One of the main reasons I love the cold weather is because I can throw on a pair of jeans and a heavy wool sweater everyday and not have to think too much about it - at least not while I'm home anyway.

But, when I leave the house, I certainly do have to think about how I look; in particular, how my coat is fitting.  Depending on your body type, and how you feel about it, your winter coat may or may not be doing you a favor. You winter coat has the power to make you look tailored or sloppy, but the choice is yours when you buy it.

If you need some help figuring out just how to find the perfectly tailored look when it comes to your winter coat, here's a few helpful tips.  But first, we need to figure out what body type you are.

Short girls have more fun! When you're petite, one of the biggest problems you face is making sure your legs are seen. You're shopping for a coat that has a defined raised-waist and stops mid-thigh or just above your knee.  Think empire waist in a wool coat, without all the billowy-ness of a babydoll top.  The high-waist look can be acheived through either a belted waist or banded waist and the coat should be relatively straight from the waist down.

I am long and lanky like a boy! Do you struggle to find curves?  If so, this is the category for you.  You need to create the illusion of curves with your coat, which means shopping for a coat that's cut slim through the top, flares slightly at the hip, and is ideally double-breasted.
