Look at Kmart for Affordable Fashion

When I was a kid, Kmart was decidedly uncool; really, really uncool.  I can remember my mother dragging me in to the store, and me glancing furtively over my shoulder to be sure that no one I knew was hanging out next door at the much cooler Taco Bell.

When I transitioned from living at home to my own place, I summoned the power of domestic diva Martha Stewart for my bedding and towels; wouldn't you know, the only place to get it was Kmart.  And so I went back.  I didn't tell my mother, and I justified it by telling myself that I wasn't shopping for clothes, so it was okay.

But then, a friend mentioned some sweatpants, available at Kmart, that happen to bear a screen printed message that states, "True Love Waits" on both the front and back of the pants.  He was talking about how they had become all the rage, but that many bloggers were making fun of the message which was largely viewed as a modern day chastity belt.

This I had to see.

Much to my chagrin, they were sold out by the time I got to the website.  And we don't have a Kmart locally, so I was out of luck there.  But, I thought, while I'm here, why not look around?  What I found surprised me.

Kmart has come a long way my friends. And their site is organized really well too.  For one, I'm loving this straw crocodile handbag.  The detailing is great and if you spill your coffee - as I'm known to do - you only need to wipe it clean with a damp cloth.

This empire-waisted tunic is perfect too.  Wear it to the office, and then head out immediately after.  But don't opt for the print, go fo the solid black.  For good measure, toss on these earrings; not too big, not too small.

If you're feeling particularly sassafrastic, prance out for your errand day in this brightly hued beaded blouson top.  Not approrpriate for the workplace because of the spaghetti straps, it's perfect with a pair of capri's and sandals for a weekend.

Last, but certainly not least, if you've got a graduation party to go to - because we all know it's that time of year - check out this dress. Classy, cotton, and an appropriate length - all for under $18.00! Can you believe that?

As an added bonus, when you shop through the Upromise online mall, Kmart is rewarding you with 4% in college savings, that's double what they usually offer.  So take advantage and see what the "new and improved" Kmart is all about!
