5 Murses Fit for a Man

by on 08-21-2008 02:06 AM

According to the Urban Dictionary, a "murse" is "a bit smaller than a traditional messenger and may have a slightly more stylized look to it."  The word was created by meshing the two words, "man" and "purse."

Depending on the men in your life, they may or may not embrace the idea of a murse, but chances are, they already carry one - in the form of a messenger bag.  That doesn't mean that the one they're carrying is stylish though, which brings me to today's topic.....

5 Murse's Fit For a Man

1. Mark Nason's Dragon Embossed Leather Messenger: a splurge, I'll admit.  But a fine looking one if I do say so myself.  Bold and rockin', I picture this over the shoulder of a recent grad, or a really trendy dad that works in an ultra-casual office.  Embossed with a fierce dragon and the words "Rock Lives," under the flap, this truly is meant for a king - or a rock star.

2. Fossil's "Montana" East-West Messenger Bag: handsome in styling, I find this to be the perfect murse for a more conservative guy.  This bag looks smart, without being edgy; smooth and supple leather lends it a bit of street cred.

3. The Filson Briefcase: a murse for the man who's always got a 5 o'clock shadow.  Leather and twill combine to create a rugged bag that was made for the lover of adventure.  If you know a Crocodile Dundee, this is his perfect mate.

4. Raiders Bag in Vintage Tribe Leather: simple, understand, classic, rugged; this bag has it all.  Whether the man who will carry it loves safari adventures, punk rock mosh pits, or heading to the opera, he will really love this bag.  The distinct vintage look comes from the hand rubbing process done during manufacturing, and the leather used is exclusive to Roots. This is a murse you can't go wrong with.

5. Classic Messenger Bags from Timbuk2: tried and true.  The messenger bags have long been a favorite of guys who spend their days running around - or biking as the case may be.  Either way, you can customize your bag so it's fitting of the user's personality.  What's more, the way that Timbuk2 creates their messenger bags means that everyone can enjoy a perfect - and comfortable - fit.

Here's to you Mr. Murse Carrying Man - you deserve to be stylish too!
