Why did I register my debit & credit cards if using them doesn't help me?

I thought I registered my debit and credit cards because when I use them at participating stores out in the real world, I get a % of my purchase back in UPromise.

If this is ONLY for online shopping, and I have to come in here to click through each time, it's basically just like an affiliate program.

But I'm still wondering why on earth I had to register my cards....

Apparently, the only way to receive dining contributions is by paying with a registered credit or debit card. As far as any of the other ways to save, I'm not sure if they still require paying with registered cards or not. I suppose it doesn't hurt to err on the side of caution, though, especially if you have to research a missing contribution.

By the way, they are giving a double dining bonus until 11/30/09, but you have to register for the bonus by clicking the link. Oh, and if you pay with a registered debit card, I think you have to have the restaurant enter it as a credit card transaction for it to count. You can find out more about that on the dining page.
