Is anyone aware of a Upromise Dining website that is mobile friendly? What a huge advantage it would be to be out, then 'easily' look up on a phone/blackberry a list of local restaurants that are in the plan by just having to put in city/state.
If this exists, please let me know . . . if not, it would be an EXCELLENT addition.
Thanks,
Bob

Thanks to bmadaio (Bob) for this idea:

We've moved it to the 'New services' board (You are here.) for Credits! voting!
'New services' is a board not only for Upromise to announce new services, but for our members to brainstorm possible new features or services we should investigate.
[Credits! are a way for our Community members to recognize posts that are valuable contributions or commentary. If you are logged in, you can click a Credits! icon to cast a 'vote' on post.]
Log in now and 'Credit!' Bob's post (if you think this is a good idea Upromise should investigate developing.). Look for the Credits! icon (w/a star) to give a Credit! to Bob's idea.
Thanks for the suggestion Bob!

Why stop at dining? I can't believe they have yet to put out an mobile application that allows people to search and buy through upromise. I have a few apps that allow this on my iphone just type in what your shopping for and hit enter. Next thing all the stores with that item, price, % savings, and links are right there. There is even one out know where you just take a picture of the UPC code on the box of the item, how easy is that.
I submitted the question to them but all I got was good idea run around. Seriously, check out the web app for amazon.com on the iphone. It's so easy, the savings would be insane!

Hey, bsaryder, your enthusiasm for mobile is great. This is more than a "good idea" response -- we are currently developing our mobile strategy in an effort to make it as convenient (and fun!) as possible for our members to search and transact through their mobile devices. We welcome your ideas and suggestions. Feel free to post here or email me directly at family@upromise.com.
Thanks,
Jenny M.

Developing a complete application isn't necessary to allow people to search for nearby Upromise participating restaurants and business from their mobile device. Google Maps allows the development of custom maps which show user defined Locations. You can find this from Google Maps => My Maps => Browse the Directory. From here you can add any custom map to your list of personal maps.
Android and the iPhone have an application called "My Maps Editor" provided for free by Google which can display any of the maps that have been added to your list of personal maps. It even provides the option to zoom in to your location, which will show restaurants in your area.
The only thing necessary would be the coding of the locations and the posting of the resulting maps. This could easily become a community lead or Company led project. Voila! Instant access to all Upromise locations by anyone with mobile access.

Here is an example map that I created. I can view this from my Android or iPhone by clicking "Save to My Maps".
I use this map to see local restaurants near my house on my way home from work and their savings percentage. Feel free to contribute.
