BoA upromise card Late Fee is $39.00

I just realized today that the first payment on my Citi-transfered to BoA upromise card was due yesterday.

I logged into the BoA website to make the payment and noticed that they charged me a $39 late fee on a $50 balance.

I called up to see if they would forgive this.  They would not.  Not a good way to start a relationship so

I closed the card.

I don't want this to be a big discussion on who is right or wrong here.  I just want other recently transfered members to

be aware that they better pay their bill on time.

Re: BoA upromise card Late Fee is $39.00

This is a big deal as I have encountered the same problem and so are other people.  I was charged a late fee and a finance fee for the balance transfer that came from the Citi Bank Upromise charge card.  These fees were included in the first statement that I received!  If I was never told or informed about the balance nor received a statement that included the transfer so how they charge a fee!

I called and talked to customer service and they said other people have complained about the charges and they said they would take care of it but its been two weeks now and the charges are still on my account.

Re: BoA upromise card Late Fee is $39.00

This is my third month using the BoA card.  The first month, my due date was the 16th of the month.  The second month, my due date was the 17th.  On the third month, I thought they'd keep this pattern up, but no... they moved my due date to the 12th, which I didn't realize until I went to pay my bill thinking I was in plenty of time based on their past due dates.  So, I got hit with the $39 late fee.  I called and they did at least lower the late fee for me and said my bills would be on the 11-13th going forward.  But based on my past Upromise Card usage of never being late and paying my balance in full, it still makes me mad!

Re: BoA upromise card Late Fee is $39.00

Your past usage of the UPromise credit card is only a couple of months with BofA (your relationship with Citibank probably isn't going to matter much to them).

Do you not receive paper statements?  I suggest you set up some email alerts on the BofA website - particularly when your payment is due.

$39 is about standard for most credit cards and their late fees - you might want to make sure your interest rate hasn't gone up if you carry your balances over to the next month.
