Gift Cards

One of my favorite ways to get Upromise dollars is to buy gift cards from participating restaurants and using those as gifts for friends and family.

I just bought a Home Depot gift card through u-promise. We were going to buy a new front door anyway.......They send the gift card to you free. That got me $20.00 for a purchase I was going to make anyway.

I am a general contractor, and buy gift cards for Home Depot in bulk for my use, and for my workers(so I do not have to send my credit card with them!). As MonaVieMom said...I am going to spend the money there anyway, so why not get the bonus, especially in a month like this when Home Depot is 4%. My contributions from Home Depot so far: over $950.

That is a great idea. Can you buy gift cards from anywhere and still get points? I was reading on the Walmat page and says points cannot be obtained when buying gift cards. Is this true?

Hi arclima. Different participating companies and online affiliates have different program details and terms and conditions. You're correct, Walmart.com does not reward members for the purchase of gift cards at this time, but other online affiliates do. I encourage you to read the pop-up that is displayed when clicking through to our online affiliates for any exclusions or special offers.

Cheers-

Hi Suzanne-
Special terms and conditions are generally referenced in the pop-up you see when clicking through to an online affiliate. In the case of Home Depot, the only restrictions are the following:
Contributions are currently not available for Installation Services and for purchases made from links where the customer is leaving the Homedepot.com web site.
So you can earn contribution on the purchase of gift cards.
As a side note (and I may have posted this here before, I apologize if I have), when my husband and I remodeled our kitchen we purchased our cabinets & an appliance or two through Home Depot. We purchased a few $1,000 gift cards online to get our college savings, then used the gift cards to purchase the cabinets in our local store. My only advice is to always call and make sure that you can use the gift cards for whatever items or services you're looking to buy, for some reason I feel like we were told we couldn't use them for certain installations or something like that. My advice is to just double-check to make sure you'll be able to use them before over-buying gift cards, that's all!

Cheers-
Marcie
