Re: Gift Cards

Say I buy a gift card and recieve the X% for that distrubitor, then I use that gift card on line.  Would I recieve the same X%?

example:  I buy a home dept gift card and recieve the % from the cost of the gift card.

I use that gift card on line - linking from upromise, or when the rewards button is green on the toolbar.  Would I recieve rewards if making a payment with a gift card, and with a gift card that was used to recieve rewards in the first place?!

Re: Gift Cards

Generally not. This is from then Upromise guidelines:

  • In general, contributions will not be made for any portion of your purchase paid for with coupons, store credit, online currency, or gift certificates.

I buy Petsmart and home depot gift cards.  We spend about 100 a month on the pets and using the gift cards a great way to budget that.  Also we get the Upromise credit.  Anything that I can't buy online, I look for a giftcard instead.

I have used both gift cards and AmEx gift cards at participating stores (Barnes and Noble and ShoeBuy.com) and have gotten contributions back.  I think probably certain providers have different guidelines.  Its better to check before!  Good luck!

    Re: Gift Cards

Recently, we needed a new lawn mower, went to Sears to see if they had one we liked, and they did.  Came home and bought an e-gift card (at the time they were offering 4% savings from Sears, and they do give savings on e-gift cards) that was delivered to my email address in less than an hour, took it into Sears, and bought the mower!  So, we got our contributions (4% on $1500 isn't too shabby now, is it?) and had the e-gift card the same day so that we could purchase the mower that same day as well!
