Re: How much have you saved??

Need to mention this as well, this has become so addictive, my wife says I am worse than a crack addict.  Mrs, Shopaholic is complaining, that I complain, that she doesn't use UPromise.  What a waste, anyway, this earning thing is highly addictive.

Both Bank of America Upromise cards work for the grocery rewards ~ the difference is that one works for gas but not dining and the other works for the dining program but not gas.  We actually write "gas" & "food" very small on the back of those credit cards so we keep them straight.  Sounds weird, but it works!

Re: How much have you saved??

Just found out about UPromise in June 2009.  Made my first transaction in July.  So far, I have $53 total, most of that still pending.  Only at little over $6.00 actually paid.  Hopefully the money will start flowing soon.  I don't have the BoA card, so I could be making more, but between the husband and I, we already have 5 credit cards if you count the ones we have through our employers.  So, I just stick with shopping on-line, eating out, buying gas.  I have up to 8 years of college to help pay for if my daughter gets accepted to Veterinary school like she wants.  She's now a freshman in undergrad.  Love the double deals (Travelocity on airline tickets) and the extra bonuses last month.

Re: How much have you saved??

I hope you're paying off your card in full every month - I gasped when I read that you plan on "charging it all" to build up your house. You'll pay far, far more in credit card interest than you'll ever save with the 1% you gain in upromise savings... at the tune of about 18 or 19 to one, maybe more without the statement in front of me.

The only way to gain FREE money upromise savings is to completely pay off your total balance every bill.

Re: How much have you saved??

Oh yeah, no doubt, with any large transaction, I like to advance BoA two days prior, then charge away.  Example is if the limit is $25,000 and I am makinga $50,000 purchase, I would send a payment in for $25,500 two days prior and go charge away.  Like I said, too bad I didn't start earlier, bought my wife a Murano at the end of 2007, dang.  Don't read it like I got loot, the only difference is, most people buy a car and pay it off in five years, I like to say I socked away a few hundred per month for five years and make a one time cash purchase.

Re: How much have you saved??

I have been a member for about 2 years and have about $1100 dollars saved so far.  Most of it came from the sale of a home with Coldwell Banker, but I use uProm for everything I can and have the CC.  I am averaging about $40-60 per quarter.

Re: How much have you saved??

I've been a member since February and have only saved $4.69!  I find it hard to earn dollars with UPromise.  I obviously don't have a upromise credit card.  Does it really help everyone save a lot?  The grocery coupons aren't the best either.  Each month I sign up for them but they're not items that I usually buy.  I don't shop online a lot either so I'm sure that's a good chunk of most people's savings too.  I do though, pay all of my bills online.  Is there a way to save that way?  Ugh...help! :smileyhappy:

Re: How much have you saved??

babygrlny, without the Uprom card and not shopping online, you have lost out on most of the earnings. With grocery or drugstore purchases, go check out the participating partners, like Shop & Stop and CVS, get a members card and register it with Uprom. At least, you'll get a few points for those purchases. If you usually shop at the same 'brick and mortar' stores, you can use the links on Uprom to your store's site and buy gift cards for yourself. You'll get the points from making that transaction. If you dine out, use a registered card and dine in or take out from participating restaurants.

Re: How much have you saved??

I find this all VERY frustrating. I have 2 grocery cards on my account, I activate grocery coupons each month for either my mother or myself to utilize. I have all my cc's and bank cards on my account.

I can't get the gas savings in my area and there are absolutely NO dining programs/places in my area either!

Upromise shoves the CC in your face for more savings, so I finally applied- not really needing or wanting another CC but thought I'd see if it made much of a difference on my acct balance/savings each month. I have decent credit (almost 700) and got denied! WTF!?

I've been a member since April of this year (I believe) and don't have even $20 on the account yet! I've spent THOUSANDS since!

WHAT GIVES?!?!?!!?

Re: How much have you saved??

Is it possible that you were denied on the credit card because you have a lot of other debt?  Remember, banks are being more choosy about who they lend money to and if they think you're overextended already, they may feel that you are less likely to pay them back, particularly if you lose your job or something.

When I signed up, I already had a BoA card with a $15,000 credit limit, so I was told that I could not get another one because the total credit that BoA would give me was $15K.  So, they gave me the option of cutting my credit limit down on my first card and transferring it over to the new card.

I assume you asked why you weren't approved and maybe it's something you can fix, if you want?

The best ways to save money with UP is through using the UP credit card and through online shopping.  If you saved almost $20 without doing either of those (basically only on grocery purchases), that's actually very good.
