I don't think so, but that only gives you free shipping from the base catalog if you use it when ordering, right? What benefit do you get using that card on the base? If nothing, it would benefit you to apply for the Citi Upromise card, apply right on the upromise site, and get instant approval. When you use this to shop on the base you get 1% of what you spend anywhere.

My dad has the Military Card and he only uses it when shopping the base catalog so he can get free shipping otherwise they use the Upromise credit card to earn money for my children.

We don't shop through the base catalog for the PX. We can use our Military Star card ANYWHERE on base except the Commissary for some weird reason (Burger King, PX, Shoppettes, Popeyes, Dominos, all of the restaurants inside our PX, all the little shops in the PX, the barber shop, etc....everywhere!).

That was my point, Unless there is a great return for using the Military Star card - trade it in - and get the Citi Upromise credit card. Use the Upromise credit card everywhere you would use the Star card and you will earn 1% on all your purchases. Shop at affiliate companies either online line or the approved retail stores and earn 1% for using the card and whatever the store give from 1%-13%. If your star card does not offer any real benefit (the only one I know of is free shipping if shopping thru the exchange catalog, which you don't do) than get rid of it and get the Citi one that gives you something back in your account. Each month you will get 1% of what you spent in your upromise account. You can apply on the upromise website.

I think I found the magic way to earn on ANYTHING, ANYWHERE. If you go to www.giftcertificates.com (3% back), you can order a MASTERCARD GIFT CARD, which acts like a debit card. So, you order the gift card which saves you 3%, and then spend the gift card on whatever you want!

I haven't done this yet, because seems too good to be true, what am I missing? Or is it really as good as it seems? Maybe there are shipping fees, I'll have to check... Also, you could save an extra 1% by using the upromise credit card to buy these. Any thoughts?

I didn't ever hear that you had to do credit in place of debit.  I used to earn 3 years ago doing it as debit, if I recall correctly, then my earnings dropped off.  I wonder if that's why?!

I always do credit. I also get points from my bank for doing credit - I get a list of prize rewards from my bank (separate from Upromise). I have read that it has to be credit.

I recently shopped at Bed, Bath & Beyond and couldn't figure out why I didn't see any contributions.  I looked everything up online at UPromise and found out that you have to use your debit card as a credit in order for the retailer to track your purchases.  Explains why I didn't get my contribution because I used the debit feature on my card instead of credit.

Plus, I really like the idea of buying gas from an American company. Many people like to find cheap gas at Citgo stations. Lovely - Citgo is owned, of course, by the state gas company of Venezuela so you can fund and support Mr. Chavez' hatred toward the U.S. BP Amoco and Shell are British companies

Citgo is the only station in my town that sells gas with NO ethanol

Savings...

Here is a question... couldn't we all join forces and save for one another?

Re: Fastest Way to $25, $50, $100...

I have saved a ton through Citibank upromise card.  We purchase all our monthly items on it (groceries, gas, food, etc) and pay it off each month, so we don't keep a balance.  It's things that we normally would spend, but you get the additional savings as well.  We also once in a while put large purchases on it, only what we can pay off, since the card does have a higher interest rate.  We just booked a trip to Vegas.
