Jade was born in China with a special medical need and came into our family when she was two years old. Just months later, my 35 year-old husband was diagnosed with an incurable cancer. Through chemo and relocating across the country for him to participate in a clinical trial, Jade fought with us for her father's life. Now that my husband has been in remission for a while and has a normal immune system, Jade has finally started preschool and can have the life of a carefree four year-old. What more could a mother possibly have to be thankful for?
