This photo was taken on the day of my high school graduation, with my sister, dad and paternal grandparents. I was completely surprised and overjoyed to see my grandparents present at this milestone event in my life. Little did I know, I would lose my Grandmother to cancer less than three months later. Throughout the difficult moments of watching her suffer under the pain of this disease, I found comfort in recalling our old memories, such as her presence at my graduation. This thanksgiving, I am most grateful to have these photographs and memories of my Grandmother. Not only do I find comfort in remembering my Gramma, but I also feel a sense of strength, knowing that she watches over and guides me day-to-day.
