Finding the Joy in Simple Things
My 16 month old daughter absolutely and completely delights in the little things:
• feeling cool wind in her face when I drive with the window partially open,
• unraveling a roll of toilet paper,
• tasting chocolate,
• listening to my husband and I sing “On Top of Spaghetti” in unison,
• seeing a flock of birds fly by
• watching a flame dance in a burning candle
• finding a fallen leaf on the ground,
• and watching other children play.
She finds such joy with the discovery of all the shapes, colors and sounds that the world offers to her in a thousand different ways, every single day.
So this year, I’m thankful for the gift of being able to see happiness and joy in its purest forms found in the little moments and simpler experiences of life and most especially for my little one that’s blessed us with this gift.
