I assume that I'm living in a dreamland with that theory though, I bet it only gives the 1% of what meal you purchase.
Which one is it, oh knowledgeable ones!
2.) Another question: how about if someone gives you a giftcard as a gift? Can you register that, or do I have to be the one that buys the card?
3.) Do I have to use a linked/registered debit/credit card to buy the giftcard?

Whenever we go to mcdonalds, which is pretty often, I always use my giftcard. It's been one of the easist and quickest ways to earn upromise money. Two years ago they use to give 5%. I guess it was my fault that they went down to 1% since I use it all they time.

If you purchase a giftcard for $10 then it's 1% on that which would be .10. You have to register the card and always use the same one. You can reload whenever you're empty and it automatically adds to your upromise account.

As I understand it, it is supposed to give the reward with each reload. So if you reload a card for $25, you get one current reward for that reload, until you reload the card again.
September was 5 %, and I joined late in Sept, so I squeaked in at the last minute (Sept 29th) and reloaded a McD card I had to hand. It has nothing to do with what you order at the restaurants when you eat, or how you pay for it. THat was my first one, so now the only thing I'm not sure of is how long it takes to show up. Anyone?
These cards are great for late night needs when cash would otherwise be low or spent, and also for on the way to my classes.

Hi. I work at Upromise and manage this program. Here's how it works. You get 1% (was 5% for September) for each card you buy or re-load, as long as you have it registered in your Upromise account. We give you 30 days from the initial purchase of the card to register it so you can use the card the same day without missing out. If you get a card as a gift, as long as it wasn't purchased more than 30 days previously, and as long as the gift-giver didn't already register it, you can register it and save. The contribution you earn is based on the total amount loaded onto the card (either at the first purchase or with any re-load), not on how much you spend. We figure you will spend it eventually since this is the only place you can use the card. This is such an easy way to save for anyone that goes to McDonald's. All you have to do is make sure your card is registered and loaded before you dine.
Also, you don't have to use a registered credit/debit card to make the purchase but if you use your Upromise Credit Card (like I do), you earn the extra 1% too!
We'll be running more promotions in the future (like we did in September) so check back to the site often.

Hey bassgirl, did you get your contribution from the September Arch cards? I bought 2 new ones & reloaded a 3rd, but only 2 of the 3 purchases posted contributions. I filled out the inquiry form & the reply I got said that I had to wait 60 business days to report a missing contribution, but in parentheses it said 90 calendar years! Good grief, I hope that was some kind of typo, lol. Surely they must have meant 90 calendar days, so I'll have to resubmit my inquiry if the contribution still hasn't shown up by then.
Until this one missing contribution, McDonald's had always posted pretty quickly for me, so I am wondering if you have gotten yours yet.

Hey mrsbandme, thanks for pointing that typo out. You're right, it's not 90 calendar years! Thanks to you we're correcting that.
By the way, it is correct regarding the 60 business days. If you haven't seen a contribution after that time, then your best bet is to call customer care at 1-888-434-9111.
Thanks,
Jeff
