McDonald's SAVINGS?!

My husband and I go every morning to McDonald's for a coffee before he goes to work, and on weekend mornings.  It's cheap, we enjoy our "time alone" and it starts the morning off in a pretty good way.  I went to the trouble to buy a McDonald's card and load it after I saw that I could rack up Upromise points with the purchase.  A 50.00 only brings in .50   That's FIFTY CENTS.   I guess it's nice for McDonald's to offer this, but really fifty cents is not that big a deal- considering it takes awhile to refill the card.  I suppose if my husband ate McDonald's every day at lunch it might rack up a few points- but  I don't feel like McDonald's is being very generous...considering their size and yearly profit margin.  I know that they do other charitable things, like Ronald McDonald houses and such- and that is a great thing, but it just seems like they could do a little better for the cards.  Am I being too picky?  It IS entirely possible!   :smileywink:

Think of it this way - they are giving you 1% of their profit. According to Forbes magazine, MCD's 5-year average net profit margin is 12.2%.

One of the keys to success with Upromise is to take advantage of all the little savings - they add up over time.

Re: McDonald's SAVINGS?!

I agree that it's not a very good deal. But every little bit helps, I guess. What I would like to know is if you can register the Arch Card online? It's easier for me to keep track of spending if I use one, but I haven't found a way to load it without doing so at the restaurant. That seems like an extra step. I wish I could load it online and then just use it in the restuarant when I take our daughter to our weekly McDonalds lunch after her Saturday swimming lesson. Does anybody have a suggestion.

Re: McDonald's SAVINGS?!

I have not had any luck with getting my savings from the McDonald's Arch card.  I have had to contact upromise everytime to try to get my contribution from them.  This last time, I cannot even get a response from upromise.  I am not very happy about this, but I don't know who to contact to help me.  Can someone help me?

Re: McDonald's SAVINGS?!

Hello,

I had the same exact thing happen. I sent inquiry and no replies. Did they ever take care of it? I was just wondering...I decided not to buy any more Arch cards. I also have the same problem with Avon purchases now.

Good luck!
