This note is coming from Jennifer Price of Houston, TX and Janis Thomas of Lafayette, LA. On yesterday evening, we traveled to Alexandria, LA to take our Mother Lillian Bell, wife of Rev. C. J. Bell to dinner at your Restaurant, The Diamond Grill. My sister chose your restaurant after researching choice places over the internet. She spoke with you on the phone and was very impressed with your kindness.
I am sending this note at this time because we are disappointed with ourselves for not honestly communicating with you about our total dissatisfaction with the Louisiana Fried fish and shrimp and fries dishes that 5 of our 7 member party had, and the dissatisfaction with the chicken strips and fries had by the youngest member of our party. We are non-confrontational type people. We had traveled and made sure we were good and hungry in order to honor our beautiful Mother. Much to our dismay, we received fried food that was burnt and tasteless. We did not say anything to your faces, but we complained to each other and struggled to say something nice when you asked "how is your meal." As people who never like to complain, we cowered to tell you to your faces that the meal was awful. We paid the $171.00 and ate the food (dipping it in the cocktail sauce and ketchup in order to eat it) and cowered at admitting our dissatisfaction. What's more we took a "doggy" bag of the food that the young teen boy was willing to eat because he was still hungry. But instead of getting dessert there, we all agreed to go to Walmart to get some ice cream, toppings and tea in order to take the nasty taste of the food we had eaten. All night long we were mad at ourselves for not saying anything, until we felt compelled to send this note. For your info, we have written a poor review, we have already started telling people we paid a lot of money for bad food, and then we decided this is not fair to you or us to not let you know the truth. So, this is simply a note to let you know the truth. In all honesty, we felt we could have gotten better food at Long John Silvers. We said next time we should just go to Applebees. We do want you to know that the people were nice, the atmosphere was perfect for the type of outing we anticipated, but the food still leaves a bad taste in our mouths. And we just thought in all fairness to you we should let you know . Sorry for being cowards while we were there. But in all honesty, we were shocked that anyone would serve us such poor food, and that we should even have to say something at a place we thought would serve us "fine food." When I go to Pappadeux's in Houston, I don't even use the ketchup or cocktail sauce because of the exquisite way the fried food is cooked. I don't even eat fried food on a regular basis because I am weight conscience. It's a treat, and I expect excellence from a fine restaurant of what your caliber should be. So just sending this note to communicate our honest feeling, and the type of reviews we are going to give, so that you are not surprised. The food needs to be good also, and we think you should treat all customers equally. Sincerely, Jennifer and Janis, daughters of Mrs. Lillian Bell, wife of Rev. C.J. Bell
TO SCHUYLAR GUNNING:
THIS IS JANIS THOMAS, THE SISTER THAT MADE THE RESERVATION BASED MOSTLY ON YOUR INVITING GREETINGS OVER THE PHONE AFTER MY INTERNET SEARCH. THIS IS THE MORNING OF MOTHER'S DAY 2009, A HEARTBREAKING REMEMBRANCE AFTER THE AWFUL MEAL LAST NIGHT. IT HAUNTS ME TO KNOW THAT I, WE, SAT THEIR AND ATE THAT FOOD; AND AS PLANNED,MY SISTER AND I SPLIT A BILL FOR $171.00 FOR A MOTHER'S DAY TREAT TO OUR MOTHER. AND YES SIR/MA'AM, WE KNEW HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST US ABOUT BEFORE WE WENT THEIR. EVEN THAT WE PAID FOR THE FOOD IS SAYING ALOT FOR OUR CHARACTER BUT IT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. MY SEVEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TOOK ONE LOOK THEN ONE BITE AND SAID THE FOOD WAS BURNT AND IT HAD NO TASTE, BUT WE HUSHED HER TRYING TO TEACH GOOD MANNERS. BUT THAT WAS WRONG FOR US TO DO BECAUSE IT IMPLY'S THE WRONG ATTITUDE TO HAVE WHEN DEALING WITH UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIORS.
MY CONCERN NOW IS THAT THIS TYPE OF SERVICE WILL GO UNNOTICED AND CONTINUE, SO THAT IS WHY I AM ALSO FORWARDING THIS EMAIL TO THE NRA. I WILL ALSO ADD MY REVIEW TO GIVE TRUE AND ADDITIONAL GUIDANCE TO THOSE SEEKING WHAT THEY HOPE TO BE A GOOD RESTAURANT. RE: THE DIAMOND GRILL

IT IS A SAD DAY THAT IN 2009 EVEN, NOT TO HAVE THE BEST OFFERED TO ALL AMERICANS WHEN MY VOICE AND OPINION ALSO MATTERS.
