How to find a school?

My oldest is a freshmen in high school - we've already started making our list. We will make our list to about 50 colleges around the country. Division I, II, III (athletics) and we'll narrow it down within her sophomore year - then she'll have some kind of direction to go in and a goal to work towards. We started by just going on line. Googled every UC and privates that we can think of. At least that's a start. We will make some vacations around our spring breaks and summers around some of the colleges that she's interested. Just get a look around. We'll start doing this now. So, by junior and senior year we already know what the campuses look like and don't have to make a mad dash to hit 50 colleges in a matter of two weeks. Why stress out like that unneccessarily?!
